Why this event?
The Swoboda Research Centre, formerly the Centre for Community Finance Europe, has a mission to produce, facilitate and stimulate action-orientated research that supports the credit union movement, primarily in Ireland and Great Britain.
Credit unions in Ireland are facing a demanding present and a very challenging future. Research that informs their response to risks and opportunities could be vital to their continued relevance and salience in Irish society. The Swoboda Centre is a direct conduit to practitioners, enabling transformation and positive change in the short, medium and long terms.
Currently there is not a visible, comprehensive overview of research taking place or required into the Irish credit union sector. The Swoboda Centre has taken the initiative to set up an event that will enable attending researchers to hear the perspectives of credit unions, trade associations and other commentators, share current research projects and future ideas and identify potential research collaborations. The focus is on research applicable to credit unions in Ireland.
